People use demolition for both jobs. They are not the same. A strip-out or defit takes out linings, a kitchen, a tenancy, or a rear room, and leaves the shell standing. A full house knock-down takes the structure down. The slab comes out when that is in the brief. The trucks, the machine, and the time on site change with that difference.
Partial demolition sits in the middle: a wing, a storey, or a rear addition comes off and the rest of the dwelling stays. That is more hand work than a clear knock-down. The street still has to take the trucks. The bit that stays has to be left so the builder can work off it.
If you only need the inside out, sending a house-demolition crew to take the roof off is the wrong brief. If the next stage is a new dwelling on the same lot, a strip-out leaves you with a shell you did not want. Say which one you mean. We look at the site before we quote either.
