Asphalt Sydney work for us is hot mix: a wearing course for car parks, access roads, and patches where the old surface has broken. It is not a shortcut around a failed pavement. We look at the base and the drainage before we send a number.
Hot mix is the surface you drive on. It needs a base that does not move and somewhere for water to go. On a car park that usually means the old course comes off, the edge is prepped, and the new mix goes down while it is still hot enough to compact. Patch work is the same idea on a smaller footprint: cut the failed area square, check what is underneath, then mix in.
A lot of our asphalt jobs follow a knock-down or a dig. The house is gone, the levels are in, then the access road or the yard has to take cars again. Standalone patches happen too: a driveway apron that has broken at the gutter, a loading bay that has rutted, a strata aisle that is holding water. Inner-city access changes the truck and the pour as much as the square metres do.
If the pavement is tired across the whole yard, that is usually car park resurfacing rather than a handful of patches. If water is the reason it failed, stormwater sits in the same quote.
